The Carefree Pioneer manual awning is the easiest full size patio awning to operate. No need to worry about unlocking travel locks or spring mechanisms with this awning.  To open the Pioneer, simply turn the hand crank.  Once it's is fully open, slide the single track slider arm up to the roller and tighten the rafter knobs.  Now you can raise the roller with the lift handles to any desired pitch.  It's that simple.

For an exceptionally taut canopy, backwind the crank to make your canopy as tight as a drum.  There's never a need to re-tension your canopy.  In breezy conditions, the worm gear mechanism will not allow your roller to unwind.  When finished using your awning, lower the roller tube, loosen the rafter knobs and slide the rafter arms to the closed position.  Just turn the hand crank in the opposite direction until the roller is tight against the coach and you're ready for travel.  That's it.  There's no locks or straps to fuss with to prevent billowing in transit.  The crank assembly automatically locks the roller in place.  Available in all fabric styles and colors including Carefree's patented no leak Alumaguard or Uniguard.

Pioneer awnings' size (i.e.: 12' to 21') refers to the center-arm to center-arm measurement.  Actual fabric length will be slightly shorter, while overall complete awning length will be slightly longer.

Installation Difficulty = 4 out of 5 wrenches.  You can install this awning yourself with a helper and power tools (drill).  Any RV awning requires unobstructed access to an awning rail.  When mounting to a surface that does not have an awning rail, you will need to install one first.

NOTE:  This STOCKED LENGTH is available in several Standard vinyl colors.  Additionally, Special Order (S/O) vinyl colors ($100 extra) are available and are marked S/O.  New Premium Vinyl (with 10-year warranty) colors ($250 extra) are also available as a Special Order (S/O).  All vinyl colors (except S/O Black) will have White weatherguard (S/O Black will have Black weatherguard).  To view our Special Order Terms, click here.

NOTE: THIS IS A COMPLETE AWNING. A complete Pioneer Awning is composed of two components: One FRTA (Fabric Roller Tube Assembly) and one Pioneer Arm Set (Carefree Awning Hardware).  The two components of a complete awning most often ship together by FedEx or Freight Truck, but may be shipped separately.

    How do I do this

Posted by Unknown on 8th Jul 2015

The awning is very nice but without any installation instructions it was very difficult to install and we ended up buckling one of the arms trying to roll it up. We were able to straighten it but I am worried about how long it will hold up. The price is very good.
