Carefree Pioneer RV Awning, Complete
A complete Pioneer is one fabric roller tube assembly (FRTA) plus one Pioneer arm set. Configure length, fabric, wrap, arms, and lights on this page. Checkout is one line; the two Carefree parts ship from the manufacturer (together or separately).
What you choose
- Length — 8' through 21', then inches 0" through 11". Pioneer size is center-arm to center-arm; fabric is slightly shorter and overall length slightly longer.
- Fabric type — Vinyl (Weatherguard) or acrylic with FLXguard. Acrylic is a woven cloth that stays cooler and holds color because the pattern is woven in, not painted. Vinyl is the value canopy; premium vinyl colors carry a 10-year warranty and a surcharge.
- Fabric color — Pick the vinyl palette or the acrylic palette to match the type you selected. Acrylic also offers 130+ custom solids and stripes.
- Wrap — Vinyl Weatherguard (white or matching), FLXguard (black, white, satin, carbon), or Alumaguard (satin, white, black). Acrylic requires FLXguard or Alumaguard.
- Arms — Universal 68"–81", long 81"–96", short 63"–68", or gooseneck/5th-wheel 56". Colors: polar white, satin with black brackets, or black.
- LEDs (optional) — None, roller tube, awning rail, or both. Add the Carefree light switch (SR0101) only if you want it; it is not included with LEDs unless you select it.
- Optional roller support and all-in-one anchor. Residential freight adds $300; commercial is included.

How Pioneer works
Pioneer is Carefree’s manual crank-out patio awning. There are no travel locks or spring mechanisms to fight. Turn the hand crank to open, slide the rafter to the roller and tighten the knobs, then set pitch with the lift handles. Backwind for a taut canopy; the worm gear will not unwind in a breeze. To travel, lower the roller, slide the rafters closed, and crank in until the roller is tight against the coach. The crank locks the roller; no straps required.
Installation difficulty = 4 out of 5 wrenches. Two people and a drill. You need a clear awning rail (install a rail first if the wall does not have one).
NOTE: THIS IS A COMPLETE AWNING — FRTA plus Pioneer hardware. Special order. Lead time is typically 7 to 10 days from the manufacturer.
